UAE ranked first in human rights in MENA
The United Arab Emirates is listed among the top of countries that have shown progress on human rights in the Middle East, according to a report by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
UNDP’s report on Human Development in 2021-2022 entitled “Uncertain Times, Unsettled Lives: Shaping our Future in a Transforming World” shows that the UAE has had an opportunity to reinforce development in MENA during the post-Covid period.
According to the official portal of the UAE government, the country pays great attention to the concepts and values of human rights, based on its constitution and laws that ensure civil liberties and equal rights for all.
The legislative system of the UAE guarantees justice, equality, tolerance and respect for rights, and supports the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In its framework to boost human rights, the UAE has founded the National Human Rights Commission, established a Ministry for Tolerance and Coexistence, and set policies, regulations and laws to protect the rights of workers, children, women, senior citizens, people of determination and prisoners. The country also takes part at the regional and international levels to combat human trials, the official portal of the UAE government says.
