Muslim or Christian? Question determines future of Egyptian child

The case of an adopted child named Shenouda has raised debate in Egypt about the religion of abandoned children. The story began when the niece of the foster father reported to the police that the Christian couple had “kidnaped” a Muslim child and gave him a Christian name. The 5-year-old Shenouda has now been deemed a Muslim in the orphanage and given the name “Yusuf.”
