In an effort to break the previous record for the longest cooking session, a Nigerian chef spent 100 hours continuously making meals.

According to Guinness World Records, since the chef began her cooking marathon, Hilda Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci on social media, has dominated news headlines all over the world. She aspires to break Lata Tondon's (India) current record of 87 hours, 45 minutes for the longest cooking marathon (individual).

In a stunning 100 hours, Hilda reportedly prepared 55 different recipes and more than 100 dinners. She claimed that she was attempting to promote Nigerian cuisine.

Hilda prepared traditional Nigerian dishes such stews, soups, and meats, even preparing the well-known West African dish Jollof rice. She completed her cooking on the evening of May 15.

Hilda declared that she intended to shatter the record in order to demonstrate to the world how tenacious Nigerians are, adding that she wanted people to realize the determination of young Nigerians while also serving as a campaign for marginalized young African women, VOA News reported.

While supporters waited outside the venue to see the 27-year-old chef prepare a variety of native and foreign dishes, Hilda received congratulations from President Muhammadu Buhari and a number of officials and celebrities, Reuters reported.

According to CTV News, Hilda only took five-minute breaks per hour, or a total of one hour after a stretch of 12 hours, for other activities like showering, getting checked up by the doctor, and sleeping.

The effort by the chef to break the cooking record was made known via a tweet from Guinness World Records. It stated that before formally verifying a record, they need to review all the evidence first.
