How do we combat dust and sand storms?
Human-induced climate change, deforestation and drought has led to an increase in sand and dust storms (SDS) recently, said the UN. SDS damages buildings, infrastructure, soils, and agricultural crops. They also affect livestock and cause respiratory diseases and road accidents.
In response, the UN proclaimed July 12 as the International Day of Combating Sand and Dust Storms to raise public awareness of their impacts.
