Abaya no longer allowed in France’s public schools

In a new campaign of “Islamophobia” in France, French authorities banned public school girls from wearing abayas, which is a loose over-garment worn by Muslim women and girls.

Education Minister Gabriel Attal said wearing the abaya contradicts France’s principle of secularism. Critics say the abaya is a cultural tradition, not a religious one (6)

However, French President Macron said his country would be “uncompromising” in applying the ban.
