People of determination enjoy diving in Dubai
In a move to integrate people of determination into society and improve their psychological and mental capabilities, a diving initiative has been launched for those people in the Deep Dive Dubai.
The initiative was launched by the Zayed Higher Organization (ZHO) for People of Determination in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Police General Command and Zayed Volunteer Team on Tuesday.
Seven people of determination: three people with hearing impairments and four people with physical disabilities, including a woman, have participated in the initiative.
The initiative provides an opportunity for people of determination to experience scuba diving in the deepest point in the world, to confirm their great abilities and potentials and enhance their self-confidence, said ZHO Secretary-General HE Abdullah Abdul-Ali Al Humaidan.
He added that the foundation launched the “Therapeutic Diving Program for People of Determination” across the UAE and the Gulf region for the first time in 2018. The program adopts the latest treatment methods used globally and in proportion to the needs of people of determination, he continued.
The number of Emiratis with disabilities reached 19,151 people, said UAE Minister for Community Development Hessa Buhumaid in March 2019, the National reported.
